Box Office Prediction: Twilight

Edward Pattinson looks like his head is falling over. Twilight #3 should tilt a bit from its predecessor, but just barely.

Twilight: Eclipse: $295 million

Box Office Prediction: TS3

For Pixar to render one frame of Toy Story 3, a computer needs seven hours to sort through all the codes and algorithms and graphics. A film two hours long needs about 50,000 days to render. 50,000 days.

Fortunately Pixar owns many computers, dropping the production time to 3 years for a movie. And everyone loves Woody and Buzz enough to make this the No. 1 movie of the year! (until Harry Potter)

Toy Story 3: $425 million

BOP: SATC 2 & POP:TSOT

Lovers of the Middle East unite! Girls and abs travel to the lands of sand to battle flirt with some guys and some dagger of importance. These two are flying under my radar.

Sex and the City 2: $151 million
Prince of Persia 1: $112 million

Box Office Predictions: Shrek Forever After and...

MacGruber!

I saw the 30-second sketch stretched to 100+ minutes last night. It's raunchy, dirty, filthy, funny, and Forte-y. Get ready for poop jokes, dick jokes, and celery jokes (yes, plural). Leave your mom at home.

This movie doesn't have the family replay appeal that SNL classics Wayne's World and The Blues Brothers have, but it's still as funny. At least if you like throat rips.

Shrek returns again, and I can't remember ever being as disinterested in an animated flick. Does Mike Myers have written into his contracts that his movies must contain at least 30 pop culture jokes? In twenty years people will have forgotten what was so funny about "I want my baby back baby back baby back ribs."

Kids will come back, but not to the tune of the third, certainly not like they did for the second. But since this is "the very best Shrek since the very first," and it's in 3D, it'll do fine.

MacGruber: $55 million (only because I love Will Forte does this get a mention.)
Shrek 4: $311 million

Box Office Prediction: Robin Hood

Ridley Scott+Russell Crowe=Oscar winner
Cate Blanchett+medieval England=Oscar nomination

What happens when you combine all these elements? I'm guessing about $175 million and no attention from the Academy. Lightning might strike twice, but four times?
