Today I signed a lease for a new place in Chapel Hill, and I like it a lot. BUT. The paint color in the kitchen and in my bedroom is sick. I mean, it looks sickly. The way the paint in the kitchen looks is the way institutional bathroom cleaner smells.
Soooo: what is a good color to paint a kitchen?
And a bedroom? Mine only has one window, so I want to maximize the natural light and go with something bright (or just not the dusty carolina blue that's there now).
I can't get my mind off a sage green, but that's boring as heck. And don't tell me yellow. Or beige?

i do think green is a nice choice, ie the background color of this blog. but have you thought about sponge-painting your walls? you could bring that style back!
also, this is something i want to try - stamps. get a really cool, moderately large stamp with a not to over-the-top design and stamp it onto the walls. these kids i used to babysit for had the coolest house. the mom had stamped the guestroom - white against a rich carolina blue - and it looked great.
Paint pictures. A different scene for each room. The Mesozoic in the coat room, the civil war in the lean-to (you can let the South win this time, if you're still bitter!), and maybe Garfield and Friends in the restroom!
that's a good idea, but i may go with a patterned curtain instead. and something bright in the kitchen, like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremyandclaire/1794562467/
and for my bedroom, this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremyandclaire/1794562751/
but i don't want to cop their style completely. i just really like what they did with the place.
