Country Music?

Who knew Darius Rucker was now a "country" "singer"? (I wish I could have found his CMA performance last night, but you get the idea.)

And Taylor Swift - I wish her time was up. Her opening number was an assault on both my eyes and ears.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I like country music like this:

And who doesn't love '80's country??? "Come on Kenny!" - Dolly

I agree on all accounts. While its cool to see a black guy who's accepted as a country star, I hate this culture war that is the backbone of every modern country song. "I ain't drinkin' champagne, I'm drinkin' beer. I don't drive a Mercedes, I drive a beat up pick-up truck." Not only are these songs divisive, they're totally dishonest because the people singing them are rich as hell. They're not hanging out in the country with a bunch of good ol' boys, they're hanging out in Nashville and LA at the 5-star hotels they claim to not need.

And don't get me started on Taylor Swift! I've never seen an artist who was so defined by marketing. She's no longer a person, she's a 20-year-old product.

Anyways, rant over. Patsy Cline had the best voice EVER.

I have to admit that I enjoy a little Taylor Swift here and there. And I thought she was funny (for the most part) on SNL. However, I think she has the stage presence of a total amateur, and I always get embarrassed for her when I see her onstage antics.
